FAQ – Thinkshift Consultations

Is Hypnosis Covered by Medibank?

Thinkshift meets the requirements of private health insurers to be listed as a rebate approved therapist. You will need to check with specific health fund and your level of cover to ascertain if you receive a rebate. This cannot be undertaken by Thinkshift.

Can I change my appointment if I need to?

Yes you can change you appointment with any penalty up to 24 hours before the appointment, however unfortunately with less than 24 hours notice we do charge a cancellation fee. The cancellation fee is the full session, as we have put aside that time to deal specifically with your issue.

What is the clinic location?

We are located at 93 Howards Lane, Kyabram Vic 3620, it is a private house. Go to the end of Howard’s Lane on the bitumen road, through the ungated fence onto the gravel road. That gravel road swings to the left and Thinkshift is located within the house on the right hand side.

Can I get to the clinic via Public Transport ?

Unfortunately, there isn’t any public transport to the property.

Can my wife, husband, partner, sit in on the appointment?

There may be circumstances where it is necessary for a partner or spouse to sit in on a session, which can be undertaken with prior arrangement. This is nearly always the case with children who are seeking sessions. However in the whole, it is suggested that partners and spouses do not sit in on the session, as they can be a distraction to the therapeutic process, which in turn can be detrimental for all concerned.

Is Hypnosis Covered by Medicare?

Medicare only covers GP’s, Accredited Mental Health Social Workers and Psychologists who meet the standards established the Australian Federal Government. Some registered psychologists may have undertaken the art, practice and skill of hypnosis.

Can I get a Medicare Bulk Billing Payment at Thinkshift?

Thinkshift does not have a Medicare Provider Number, hence bulk billing is not possible, and there is no Medicare Rebate.

How long are sessions?

The initial consultation is between 75 and 90 minutes. Follow up sessions are generally also 90 minutes in duration.

Do you have a waiting room?

Unfortunately we have no waiting room, so if you turn up early to your appointment, please wait in the car until just before the appointment time. Please be aware I may be finishing with another client, so some silence would be very much a appreciated upon approach.

Do you have toilets in the Clinic?

Yes, we have a toilet for use by clients

What are your consultation fees?

The fee for an initial consultation is $225 inclusive of GST, a follow up session is $225 also.

Do you offer discounts to Concession Card Holders?

Yes we consider the individuals circumstances and do offer a discount for people who have a Concession card, generally it is around 5%

Do you take a deposit upon making an appointment?

Yes, we generally ask for a $100 deposit for new clients who wish to make an initial appointment booking. This is respectfully requested to be transferred via bank transfer.

When are consultation fees due?

All fees are due and payable at the end of the session, except when a deposit has been taken before the initial session and the other exception are bundled packages which are pre-paid.

How can I get your services cheaper?

We offer bundle packages, which need to be paid at the end of the first session, which offers a discount on a sliding scale, the more sessions you commit to the cheaper each session becomes. Talk to us if your would like to explore this option.

Can bundled sessions be shared with family members?

Yes, sessions that are part of a bundle of sessions can be shared with another family member

Where can I download the intake form?

The intake form can be emailed to you upon request.

Is what I say treated as Confidential?

Yes, our conversations are confidential, however there are established limitations to confidentiality.All personal information gathered by the practitioners during the provision of the services will remain confidential and secure except when:

(1) it is subpoenaed by a court,

(2) failure to disclose the information would place you and or another person at risk,

(3) your prior approval has been obtained to: provide a written report to another professional or agency, e.g. your GP / solicitor, or to discuss the material with another person, e.g. a partner, parent or employer. To ensure that you receive the best possible care, details of your case may be discussed with the practitioner’s supervisor in confidential terms. During these discussions your identity will not be revealed.

Will information be recorded about what we discuss?

Yes, in order to provide the best support possible to you, Thinkshift will need to collect and record personal information, manually and electronically, during each session. The information will be used to set goals and to monitor progress which may be relevant for future sessions. Paper information will be stored in a locked filing cabinet and electronic information under password protected software.
